What is a Giving Journey?

Some people call them donor journeys, supporter journeys, or peer-to-peer event email journeys, but we call them Giving Journeys.

Essentially, a Giving Journey is a series of personalised communications sent to your event audience. The majority are emails, but a Giving Journey can also include physical letters, text messages, and social media content.

The journey begins from before a participant signs up, runs throughout the build-up to your event, and all the way to post-event celebrations.

Every email, SMS, and social message in your Giving Journey is designed to foster deep connections and memorable moments, leading to higher engagement and stronger fundraising results.

What fundraising platforms do you work with?

We can work with any fundraising platform or email marketing service you use.

We craft content to fit seamlessly into whichever platform you prefer, and can recommend a platform for you if you don't have one.

What is the process for working with you?

Let's start with an initial call to learn about your event.

If needed, we’ll get together in person or over video chat to create a strategy for your Giving Journey, including plotting out all the individual touchpoints (emails, texts etc.) needed for your event.

Finally. we’ll craft engaging content for every stage of the journey—and if you need a hand, we can help set up the emails and automations in your fundraising or email platform too.

What's included in our Giving Journey?

Some events will come to us with a fully fledged communications plan, key messaging guidelines, and detailed comms schedule. Others aren't sure where to begin!

Our core service is writing every email, text message, and social post your participants need to stay engaged, feel supported, and raise more funds—from registration to post-event celebrations.

However, we're also here to help if you're just getting started and need deeper strategic advice and guidance to ensure your event is a success.

How many emails are included in a Giving Journey?

It varies by event, but we typically write between 30-70 emails per event (sometimes more!).

This includes registration emails, pre-event updates, engagement emails, case studies, gamification emails, fundraising pushes, event-day comms, and post-event thank-yous.

We're also able to write any SMS and social content you need throughout the journey.

How much does a Giving Journey cost?

We know budgets in the not-for-profit sector can be tight, so we offer custom packages to suit your needs.

We'll discuss all of that on our initial call, and provide you with a quote so you know what you're getting into.

Can you manage the tech for us?

Yes! We can help set up your peer-to-peer event on your chosen fundraising or email platform.

If you’re unsure which platform to use, we can also offer recommendations.

In our initial call, we’ll discuss your in-house capabilities and how we can best support you.

Can you write variable content for different audiences?

Absolutely! We can tailor messaging for different segments, such as returning participants, existing donors, Facebook leads, high-value fundraisers, and more.

We'll also make the most of gamification features in your fundraising platform, so participants receive high-energy messages whenever they achieve fundraising goals throughout the journey.

What are gamification emails?

Gamification emails are a great way to keep your participants motivated and excited.

They might celebrate milestones (like hitting 50% of a fundraising goal), unlock badges or rewards, or challenge participants to take specific actions—like inviting a friend or sharing their page on social media.

These emails tap into motivation and friendly competition, making fundraising more exciting and helping supporters stay engaged throughout the journey.

Can you produce downloadable resources for our event?

Yes! If you need a PDF fundraising guide, event training plan, or any other downloadable resource, we can create it in your brand voice and style.

Will you write in our brand voice, using our key messaging?

Of course! Every Giving Journey is unique because we write in your organisation’s voice.

If you have brand guidelines and key messaging documents, we’ll use them. If not, we can help develop them so your journey sounds exactly how you want it to.

How do you provide the Giving Journey to us?

We break your journey into manageable batches, so you can review the content at every stage.

First, we’ll send you 2-3 initial journey emails to ensure we’re on the right track. This will usually come as a Word document, so you can leave comments and make edits if needed.

Once you give us the green light on those first ones, we’ll then deliver all other content in batches (usually about 10 emails at a time) for your review.

If you prefer to collaborate in Google Docs instead of Word, that’s fine too!

We’re part of Linked Creative, a team with over a decade of experience helping charities communicate, inspire, and raise funds.
